Re: Loan to Pasadena Center Operating Committee to Fund Capital Improvements Dear Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council,
Pasadena Heritage urges the City of Pasadena approve this loan to fund to the restoration work proposed by the PCOC for the historic Civic Auditorium. This work, delayed by the pandemic, should be undertaken as soon as possible so as to avoid more serious damage.

Water intrusion is a serious and insidious threat to historic structures like the Civic, and we urge the City and PCOC to move forward with the needed repairs.

Pasadena Heritage has been asked in the past to consult on a number of restoration and improvement projects at the Civic Auditorium, and we have been happy to provide expertise and support to PCOC and its project team. We have frequently worked most cooperatively with Onyx architects on projects at the Civic, as well as other projects around Pasadena. We believe that Onyx is well qualified to undertake this work, and they know and understand the building well.

It is vitally important that work to maintain and restore the exterior of the building be done in a timely fashion so as not to cause larger and more costly problems. We hope that the Finance Committee and City Council understand the importance of proceeding now and will provide the financing required
Sincerely,
Ashu soli.
