Pasadena City Councilmembers,
We are on the brink of climate breakdown. Whoever sets up our energy plan for the next 25 years through the IRP must understand this and have the wealth of knowledge necessary to transition our great city to carbon free energy.
As a member of the STAG for PWP's IRP, I find it wholly unacceptable that we will be starting the IRP off on the wrong foot by hiring a consulting company, ACES, that does not have a depth of experience in transitioning to carbon free energy. The recommendation on Agenda Item 19 is to use nearly half a million dollars of Pasadena taxpayers money to hire a consultant that is inexperienced in meeting the needs of our city.
I urge Pasadena City Council to reject the MSC's recommendation and restart the RFP process with the transition to.carbon free energy by 2030 as its number one priority.
Best,
Sam Berndt

I think the Council should engage a consultant who is clearly in favor of reducing our dependence on fossil fuels The organization proposed seems to be lukewarm at best in promoting renewable energy and the inference might be that they are "in the pocket" of fossil fuel interests who continue to put profits ahead of the welfare of the citizens of Pasadena.
