Honorable Mayor Gordo
Honorable members of the Pasadena City Council,
My name is Pablo Alvarado and I am a long time resident of our beautiful City of Roses. I currently live at , Pasadena, 91104. It's in District 5. A few blocks down the street where I live is District 3. I serve as the Coexecutive Director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, NDLON, the non-profit organization that runs the Pasadena Community Job Center. I've been an immigrant and workers' rights organizer since I moved to the City in 1992.

In my capacity as Co-director of NDLON and a local activist, I have had the honor to work closely with Mr. Brandon Lamar in issues ranging from jobs, gang violence, racial justice, immigrant rights, tenants rights, voting rights and inter racial relations among other topics for the last 6 years. Brandon is one of the brightest young men I've met in my career in our city. Mr. Lamar is a committed, passionate and creative young leader who understands that in order to make our city a better place for everyone, we have to engage in direct conversations with each other, individually and collectively; in unity.

I strongly believe the Mr. Lamar led a vibrant campaign in the last election cycle and obtained a significant amount of votes. And I believe that in order to preserve the unity of our city and to ensure a smooth intergenerational leadership succession, Mr. Lamar should be appointed to lead District 3. As a Pasadena resident and voter I urge you all to appoint Mr. Brandon Lamar as Councilmember for District 3.

Sincerely,
Pablo Alvarado
Co-executive Director
National Day Laborer Organizing Network
