Dear Committee members,
Between Colorado and the 210, there is simply no way to safely bike given the narrow street, two lanes of traffic, and parked cars. The planned Greenway is entirely inadequate a response to this section of Wilson -- one of the most dangerous streets in Pasadena, but also one of the few major streets that connect the city across the freeway.
It is possible to maintain current traffic speeds, add additional parking, while allowing safe biking by converting Wilson to one-way, one traffic lane street between the 210 and, at a minimum, Colorado. Catalina would likewise be converted to one-way, one traffic lane street northbound. Best would be to extend these streets one-way one traffic lane to Cordova. Substantially more street parking could be added while again protecting bikers. All the necessary traffic signals are present on both streets and so such a change could be done at minimal cost.
A good model for how these streets could be laid out is Lafayette St. in Brooklyn, NY.
