Subject: Comment re need for corrective Policy Statement, Use of Force Members of Pasadena City Public Safety Committee,
I am delighted with the Professional Development commitment the PPD is making to its officers for the PRACTICE of De-escalation techniques in policing! A reminder that the local POLICY needs to reflect the state legislation that Requires that De- escalation of use of force be part of an officer's feasibility considerations; practice + policy should fit together, as it will benefit our officers and our public. The use of force wilt still be at the officer's discretion, as it should be, but with a broader knowledge and skill set developed, for second decisions.
