Dear Mayor Gordo and City Council members,
I want to thank the Ed Tech Committee for enthusiastically supporting hybrid meetings for the City Council, Commissions and Committees. I am very pleased that these Council members support transparency and openness as well as accessibility for Pasadena's decision-making bodies.
I am glad that Mayor Gordo "experimented" by having in person only meetings in January since the data shows that public comments decreased significantly when meetings were in person only.
I urge you to adopt the unanimous recommendation of Ed Tech regarding hybrid meetings since we now know they will help make our city more democratic and inclusive.
I also urge you to ask the Planning Department and Commission to agendize Safe Parking as a permitted use for religious institutions as soon as possible and not wait until 2024. According to Bill Huang, at least two dozen people are living in their vehicles and we don't a repeat of what happened to Corina Monroy. The need for Safe Parking is urgent!

Mr. Mayor and City Councilors
It has been very satisfying to see the creative process to enable continued opportunities for remote participation in city council and committee meetings. The solution worked out with the ED Tech Committee is in the best spirit of effective democracy. The community learned valuable lessons from the pandemic and it is appropriate to continue use of available tools to encourage broad participation in the city's business. I thank the staff and Committee for bringing this recommendation to you and urge your positive response and enactment.
With appreciation for this demonstration of Pasadena as a leader in local government Areta Crowell District 7 homeowner Sent from my iPhone
