Dear Members of City Council's Municipal Services Committee, My name is Dr. Jamie Scott, I reside in District 6.

I'm writing to urge you to support a plan for 100% carbon free electricity by 2030 that was mandated by City Council earlier this year.

I do not think this is an impossible goal; however, I am concerned by the backsliding the PWP has done in failing to prepare a draft plan so far!
I believe that, with consistent messaging from the City Council, MSC and other Pasadena commissions (e.g., the Environmental Advisory Commission), perhaps the PWP will complete the task laid before them and prepare an IRP that meets expectations!
I look forward to attending the MSC meeting on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, my husband Dr. Felix Breden, will not be in town to attend, but he sends similar sentiments! Best wishes
Jamie Scott

City Council Members,
My name is Wen Lee and I am a resident of District 5.1 urge you to support a plan for 100% carbon-free electricity by 2030.

Pasadena alone can't solve climate change, but we can be part of the solution. I have faith we will be, and that's very exciting.

Thank you,
Wen

The City Council passed a resolution to assure that the city of Pasadena becomes carbon free by 2030. Pasadena Water and Power must find a way
to comply, passing on costs to clients. Otherwise, what is a City Council's vote worth? These are our authorities, and PWP needs to find a way to
comply. How? Break fossil fuel contracts and pay a penalty, make new contracts with fossil-free sources and pass costs on to all users. We are all in this
together.

City Council Members,
I am a resident of district 2, and I urge you to support a plan for 100% carbon free electricity by 2030.

My primary concern about the climate is the resilience of the planet, the oceans, our ability to grow food, and drought migration. These are my concerns because I have two grandchildren who are still young. I feel I must lobby for them, for a livable world. Time is of the essence. We cannot postpone changing our ways for 12 more years. The situation is too dire already.

Thank you for your service to the citizens of Pasadena.

My name is Jenna Cobb and I am a resident of Council District 2.1 stand with Pasadena 100 and want 100% carbon-free energy by 2030. I care about climate change because as a person of faith, I believe that climate change will disproportionately impact the most vulnerable members of our community. This past year, we have witnessed how climate change has led to both flooding and extreme heat events. These climate change hazards wilt particularly affect our community members without reliable shelter and even just those who don't have air conditioning. It is our moral obligation to take climate action, and I believe that 100% carbon-free energy by 2030 can be a major way Pasadena communicates that it cares about its residents. 100% carbon-free energy will help slow down our release of carbon emissions, contributing to the work to limit global warming. Having our energy grid provide 100% carbon-free energy will also create a more resilient energy system for our community where we won't have to worry about brownouts, which would particularly support our residents who need energy to power their home medical equipment. Thank you for passing the carbon-free electricity by 2030 resolution, which I believe is a key step to investing in our community's long-term health and safety. With integrity, responsiveness, and innovation as some of our City's values, acting on this resolution is necessary for the City to live out its values. Now, I urge you to call on Pasadena Water & Power to make the IRP a concrete plan for reaching 100% carbon-free energy by 2030.Thank you. 1 Stevenson, Garrett

We are writing to urge you to support a plan for 100% carbon free electricity by 2030. This is imperative if we are truly serious about combating climate change, which is one of the most serious crises for our planet. Pasadena has the opportunity to lead the way and make a difference, and the time is now! Thank you,

My name is Skylar Gering, I am a resident of District 7 and I urge you to support a plan for 100% carbon-free electricity by 2030.

Climate change is an existential threat, and we must take measures to protect Pasadenans now, and in the future. This is the moment. The city council knows this, which is why they unanimously approved the carbon-free by 2030 resolution in January. We must not let the moment slip. We must have a concrete plan from PWP to reach 100% carbon-free energy by 2030 within the IRP.

Thank you,
SkylarGering
