As the retired Manager of Long Range Transit, Pedestrian, Bike, and ITS Planning at SCAG, and a founding Member of the Transportation Advisory Commission. I find this to be a very poorly thought out Pedestrian "Plan". And I agree with Marsha Rood that this is a very incomplete and poorly thought out, missing many opportunities.
This Pedestrian Plan is not integrated with our transit or traffic planning, and could even make pedestrian safety worse in our residential neighborhoods by creating traffic dams which divert more traffic into residential neighborhoods. This Pedestrian Plan also fails to identify ways to improve residential neighborhood pedestrian safety from increasing levels of "cut through" traffic increasingly leaking off of our overcrowded arterials into our residential streets.
This Pedestrian Plan is not integrated with our current or future transit operations, and many proposed actions would delay transit even more and less safe with "live lane" traffic blockages and increased accident risks. Connectivity opportunities to hook up the pedways of Old Pasadena, with Paseo and the transit stations are completely lacking.
It's a terrible Pedestrian plan... Whatever it is called, and regardless of funding source, it is not comprehensive, and it is a disappointing use of taxpayer money.
