Subject: MATLOCK TV REMAKE JANUARY 31,2024/ Filming Restrictions at San Rafael Dear City Council Members,
Here is a tv shoot for CBS that is very intersted in - San Rafael. Please read his comments below. Im not sure what else I can send to clarify what the problem is. As I said..all the neighbors are fine signing off for a reasonable amount of money per project, except for - and San Rafael, whom are still demanding exorbitant funds based on a 30 year old ordinance that was put in effect with different owners. Could someone please guarantee that this can be discussed on Jan 31,2024...the owner and I are happy to attend.

Thank you,
Toni Maier

Hey Toni,
Great chatting with you as always! Here's the run-down as I have it for the Matlock Hero House.

Filming would begin this March and continue, \vith muldple visits, through the end of the year for season 1. That said, we're looking to scout this week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) and lock in the location by the first week of February.

Playing Westchester New York, old money, ornate. Looking for an impressive drive-up, crown moldings, the works.
1 We d like to explore San Rafael, Pasadena house near Pasadena, although the neighbor fees may price it out.

Thank you for your help on this one Toni! Looking fon\'-ard to a great season and beyond.

Yours,
Nick

Subject: REVISED JANUARY 31,2024/ Filming Restrictions at San Rafael Please see revisions in italics below.

Dear Council Members,
I .-...-.._.. .-. and I are contacting you in regards to filming oncfp/ioto shoots at, San Rafaet Ave. I am the agent for and I send filming business to the property. We have abided by all the rules for over 20 years. The problem is two immediate neighbors' signatures are REQUIRED and the fees they charge are unreasonable anr< deterring filmins and in addition, this is the only property in PASADENA that is required to get signatures from I : and for photo shoots. What we are talking about here is extortion, does the city want to be a part of that ? We have been contesting this for over 2 years, we need answers to try to save first quarter business.

NEIGHBOR GRATUITI ES:

NISSAN : 65,000.00-3 days of FILMING After this NISSAN went OUT OF STATE to film the follow up commercial CASUAL TV SHOW: 22,000.00 1 DAY OF FILMING
GASLITTV SHOW: 70,000.00 2 DAYS OF FILMING
WESTWORLD W SHOW: 80,000.00 3 DAYS OF FILMING.

OLD MAN W SHOW: 75,000.00 4 DAYS OF FILMING
I would like to discuss the history of this property and how we got to these restrictions:

About 30 years ago a gentleman named ., , owned the property at. San Rafael Ave. He didn't live there and rented the property for film shoots, without any regard for the neighborhood many times. That's when two neighbors (now deceased) put these regulations into place, i and are the only two left from this (30 YR ni D) affected group ^nd their signatures ARE REQUIRED to allow for filming at this location. at • San Rafaet, charges 3,000.0 per shoot dav and this last time for OLD MAN lowered the prep rate to 1,000.0 per day: it was still 18,000.0 request 3,000.0 per day EVERYDAY and that totaled 27,000.00 . Everyone else charges 2,000.0 per project (not per day) for their signature (this is fine !) With all the community outreach we have done, it seems the neighbors on the street are amenable to filming with the limited amount of 6 days per quarter per property. 1 Special restrictions from 30 years ago are still being applied tr San Rafael, and they need to be eliminated ! •, San Rafael does filming, they are adjacent to > San Rafael, they don't have special conditions, just the normal regulations for filming or San Rafael Ave. We recently lost a job (return of NISSAN commercial) due to these outrageous money demands of the two immediate neighbors (only applied to San Rafael) and it takes filming revenue away from the city .

We would like to get filming again on S San Rafael since all of the neighbors are on board and ask for reasonable gratuities except for the two mentioned . We want to get rid of the special conditions (from 30 years ago and a different owner), that force production com panics to get the signatures of these two neighbors. Instead, production companies are happy to work within the normal rules of Pasadena and acquire a majority of neighbor signatures, just like ever^ other filming location in Pasadena.

Please consider cancelling thpsp <:nRcial conditions so that we may bring filming back to and preserve, this historic house in Pasadena, located at - i San Rafael Ave. \Ne have been requesting changes for over 2 years and this is an extremely urgent matter.

Thank you,
Toni
