Hello,
I would like to submit the following for public comment at today’s Finance Committee meeting:
My name is patty barajas tavera. I am a board member of
the Playhouse Village Foundation
and a Pasadena resident
for 25 years.
I’m here today to advocate for the transformation of Mentor Avenue from a one-way street to a two-way street, and to request that funding to
do so be allocated in the ‘24-‘25 Capital Improvement Program budget for a feasibility study to move the project forward.
This isn't just about altering traffic flow; it's about revitalizing our community, enhancing safety, and fostering economic growth for Pasadena.
It addresses safety issues, like accidents caused by wrong-way traffic, and it also eliminates pedestrian & driver confusion (especially for tourists). This simple change of converting it to a two-way street will lessen these risks and make our streets
safer
for everyone.
It would also benefit our local economy, by establishing a more connected area of restaurants, office buildings, and independent businesses.
Most importantly, it would transform the mentor corridor into an entertainment hub, with easier access to our wonderful restaurants, unique shops, and renowned cultural venues like the Ice House, Boston Court, and others.
By improving access and visibility to the mentor corridor, we can solidify Pasadena as a cultural and entertainment destination for both locals and visitors alike.
Thank you for your consideration
Patricia Barajas Tavera
