Hello Chair Hampton and Economic Development and Technology Committee Members The Board of Directors of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and Civic Association enthusiastically support the Zoning Code Amendments that are before you today.
These are common sense changes that are important to the health of many in our restaurant community.
Many were implemented during the pandemic as emergency provisions and have proven to be helpful to restaurants and have no adverse impacts in the community.
For example, allowing for outdoor dining without requiring additional parking spaces has shown that parking needs of restaurants (and driving habits of patrons) have outpaced regulations.
The adjusted CUP requirements for alcohol service in conjunction with food has also proven to be helpful to restaurants and have no negative impacts on the community. Staff level approval takes into account the concerns and issues that would be addressed in a full CUP process.
Further, allowing walk-up windows for pick-up of food is simply common sense. It facilitates take out service and provides ease and added convenience for patrons and restaurateurs.
Please approve the recommendation of staff and send these measures on for approval bythe full City Council.
