Dear Members of the Pasadena City Council,
RECEIVED
202UUL-2 AM 8; 12
CITY CLERK
I am writing on behalf of The Friends of the Pasadena Public to ex^^ orii- enthusiastic support for the Central Library Earthquake Retrofit and Building Repairs Project. The Central Library is not just a repository of books; it is a cornerstone of our community and a vital gathering place for residents of all ages.
The library's role as a communal hub cannot be overstated. It provides a safe and welcoming environment where individuals and families come together to learn, explore, and connect.
Whether through educational programs, cultural events, or simply as a space for quiet study and reflection, the Central Library offers invaluable opportunities for personal and communal growth.
The proposed retrofit and repairs are essential to ensure the safety and longevity of this beloved institution. We urge the City of Pasadena to prioritize the necessary funding and resources to make this project a reality. The Central Library's reopening will symbolize our city's commitment to fostering a strong, vibrant and diverse community based on a love of discovery and learning.
Thank you for your attention to this very crucial matter.
Sincerely,
Janice Segall

Dear Councilmember Lyon,
I'm supporting the Central Library Earthquake Retrofit Project. More importantly, I'm also supporting the Building Repairs Project. Councilmember Lyon I urge you to vote in favor of these necessary upgrades to the current Central Library. It will provide upgraded meeting rooms with the technology and equipment necessary for use in the 21st Century! The Library's current auditorium is incredibly outdated and needs every improvement currently proposed. Actually, it needs more than what has been proposed. Improvements to the basement are critical to allow public access and public use of this uneven, 19th century, gloomy space(s). I would also mention that Library employees work with great difficulty trying to maneuver this archaic maze.
Most important, is the Circulation Desk Foyer. Honestly, if left, as, this strange, narrow, claustrophobic North entrance(from the North parking lot) will continue to baffle and confuse the public as we try to find where the front of the Library is located! The Building Repairs Project is proposing a beautiful space, a 21st century improvement that future generations can enjoy and appreciate. Please, support the Central Library Retrofit Project and the Building Repairs Project.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Valeri Siegel

Dear council members,
I am writing in support of saving our Central Library building.
This is part of the historic area of Pasadena and filled with wonderful memories of so many of our citizens.
A new building would be a travesty!
Please save an important part of our community.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Montgomery
