Honorable Mayor and Councilmembers,
As a member of the San Rafael Library Associates , I fully support the retrofitting and restoration of Central Library.
The library is a cornerstone of the Civic Center Bennet Plan and one of the first public buildings built in Pasadena. Its continuing presence represents our city's commitment to historic preservation, education and literacy.
In the same way that the Council supported the retrofit of City Hall, I hope it will find a way to restore the Central Library.

Dear Members of the Pasadena City Council,
On behalf of the Linda Vista Branch Library Associates, I am writing to convey our strong support for the Central Library Earthquake Retrofit and Building Repairs Project. The Central Library stands as a beacon of opportunity and success, offering countless programs and resources that empower our community.
The library is an institution that provides access to knowledge and Learning, paving the way for personal and professional success. From job search assistance to educational workshops, the Central Library equips individuals with the tools they need to achieve their goals. Moreover, it serves as a platform for showcasing authors and thought leaders who inspire and influence future generations.
Investing in the structural integrity of the Central Library is not only a commitment to safety but also an investment in our community's future. The reopening of the library will continue to provide a space where dreams are nurtured and possibilities are realized.
We urge the City of Pasadena to support this essential project and ensure that the Central Library remains a cornerstone of opportunity for all.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,

To whom it may concern,
I'm writing to share my support to have the central library reopened when it is deemed safe enough and retrofitted for seismic activity. I've been a Pasadena resident for just over five years now, and sadly have never had the chance to enjoy this beautiful historic building. I am thankful for the many branches of the Pasadena Library but would love to see this historic building reopened as the main hub.
My name is Caleb Luke Jacobs, living in the Playhouse Village area of Pasadena.
Kind regards,
Luke Jacobs

I am writing this letter to you in support of the retrofitting and building repairs needed to restore and update our historic Pasadena Central Library.
It is a building well used and loved by Pasadenans for over 100 years. Personally, it has provided a quiet place for me to study for my Masters Degree as well as a welcoming place for my children to develop their love of reading. In addition It has served as a resource site not available at our local libraries.
I strongly support funding our Central Library as a necessity for an informed, educated and literate city.
Sincerely,
Ellen Tan, Member of the San Rafael Library Associates Sent from my iPhone ;l

Dear Members of the Pasadena City Council,
I am writing as a homeowner, taxpayer and voter in Pasadena. I am also a Vice-President of The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library, the longstanding nonprofit support group of our beautiful library system in Pasadena for 50 years.
I enthusiastically support the Central Library Earthquake Retrofit and Building Repairs Project. It is important to retain and retrofit the existing Central Library building. In addition to being an essential part of Pasadena's landmark Civic Center, the architecture of Central Library provides an emotional uplift to every person who visits it and contributes to their education in the importance of the built environment in the quality of our personal and civic life. A "new build" replacement is unlikely to provide that same experience.
The proposed retrofit and repairs are essential to ensure the safety and longevity of this beloved institution. We urge the City of Pasadena to prioritize the necessary funding and resources to make this project a reality. The Central Library's reopening will symbolize our city's commitment to fostering a love of reading in a strong, vibrant community. For this to happen we need the necessary funding to continue this commitment.
Thank you for your attention to this crucial matter.
Sincerely,
17/22/2024

I am a member of the library commission for district 4. During my short time on the commission I have been privileged to learn even more about the libraries in Pasadena. True, everyone thinks of books and libraries but Pasadena libraries offer so much more. They offer community! And at the center of that community (let's call it the patriarch) is Central Library. Not only is central library a historic building but it is the hub and model for the libraries in the system, offering so much more than the books on its shelves. Do not let this treasure die and or not be utilized. I encourage you to approve a bond for the November ballot so that current and future generations of Pasadena residents can continue to enjoy this magnificent hub that offers so much to the city.

We have a unique opportunity to bring our historic and iconic Pasadena Central Library which is the heart and soul of our fabulous library system into the 22nd century! For almost 100 years it has been a place where children learned to read ... people perused books and magazines ,,, computers were available ... rooms and activities dedicated to teenagers .. historic books available for scholars and others ... the homeless found refuge from the rain, heat and cold ... people came to hear famous and not so famous authors speak ... there were movies in the auditorium and musical interludes.
There was something for everyone!
Don't miss this opportunity to bring our library back better than ever for the people of Pasadena! Martha Denzel

Good afternoon, Jason,
I am a District? resident (38 years) and a board member of The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library, the longstanding (50 years) nonprofit support group of Pasadena's beautiful library.
My email is confirmation of my support for the Central Library Earthquake Retrofit and Building Repairs Project and encouragement that the City of Pasadena prioritize the funding.
The library's role as a communal hub cannot be overstated: a safe, welcoming environment where individuals, families, civic groups, and others come together to learn, explore, and connect.
Whether through educational programs, cultural events, or as a space for quiet study and reflection, the Central Library offers invaluable opportunities for personal and communal growth.
The proposed retrofit and repairs are essential to ensure the safety and longevity of this beloved institution.
Imagine what Central Library's reopening will symbolize, and please make this project a reality! Sincerely, Theresa Doran
