To whom it may concern,
My name is Carmen Conde and I am a resident of District 2.

I am writingyou to express my concerns about the recent Grants Pass ruling and Pasadena's elected officials comments and intentions in regards to the ruling.

The Grants Pass ruling is dangerous, ineffective, and truly disappointing. Homelessness has been proven to be caused by lack of affordable housing and Low wages, not by a person's individual failure or struggles. Unhoused residents should NOT be punished or criminalized for sleeping on the streets, specially when Pasadena has FAILED to provide proper services and housing. It is deplorable and cruel to sweep some of our most vulnerable residents for no other reason than the city's failures and neglect. Additionally, if you truly care about housing people, you will oppose Grants Pass as sweeps and criminalization have been proved time and time again are INEFFECTIVE ways of housing people. Sweeps do not Lead to housing, they only cause harm and distrust to our unhoused neighbors.

I implore you to oppose any sweeps or criminalization towards our unhoused neighbors. I ask you to advocate for more funding for our housing and homelessness department. I implore you to do the right thing and stand against Gavin Newsom's cruel executive order of clearing encampments.

Thankyou,
Carmen Conde
