Statement to Pasadena City Council Re: 710 Stub project Respected City Council,
The just and equitable resolution of the 710 Stub project is of paramount importance to the Black community. The disruption and dispersion of both a residential and business community have significant and traumatic generational impacts which must be seriously addressed.
The City's efforts in this regard, white laudable to a degree, are lacking in the substantial utilization of the expertise and resources of the Black community.
The significant involvement of individuals who were among those displaced and who have vivid memories, relevant contacts, and research skills that could significantly advance the fact-finding efforts currently underway, are being overlooked and under-valued.
It is the recommendation of the Black Male Forum that Gary Moody be added as part of the Historical Research Consulting Team. His curriculum vitae is already available to City staff.
This important project requires our best efforts, to come together as a community, to correct an error, to right a wrong, and to decide on a vision for the betterment of our entire community. We will continue to play our part in this endeavor.
Respectfully submitted,
The Black Male Forum
