Re: Recommendation for Emergency Eviction Defense for Tenants Impacted by the Eaton Fire
At its regular meeting on February 6, the Pasadena Rental Housing Board (Board) voted unanimously to recommend that the City Council adopt a temporary, emergency ordinance providing a n affirmative defense against eviction for tenants financially impacted by the Eaton Fire. This defense should be available to tenants who self-certify their financial hardship under penalty of perjury. The ordinance should remain in effect for one (1) year.
This memorandum formally transmits the Board's request to the City Council for consideration and action.
