Dear Councilmembers, Mayor Gordo, and leaders of Pasadena Water and Power, Firstly, I would like to say how grateful I am to live in a city where we have our own municipal power and water systems. This allows residents like me to feel an ownership in what goes on with these vital services in my city.
I would like to express my support of Pasadena's stated goal of reaching 100% carbon-free power by 2030. As we are well aware, trends within higher levels of government in this country are not helping move us in the right direction, so we need to do everything we can at the local level to assure sustainability in our vital services during these times of climate crisis.
In particular, I would like to plan to include ways for condo owners like me to tap into solar power resources.
I live in a 92-unit building, but there is no will or incentive for my HOA to look into solar installation. I'm sure this is true for the many multi-unit complexes in Pasadena.
We cannot kick this can down the road any longer. Please refrain from buying into messages that would downplay the urgency of this effort.
Thank you for welcoming your constituents' input and for your continued service to our city.
Best regards,
Gloria Newton
