Hello, I am a Pasadena resident, a professional environmental scientist, and a Pasadena Water and Power customer.

I urge the City and its’ publicly owned utilities to fast track local rooftop solar by easing permitting and keeping incentives for rooftop solar so more residents will have access to this critical resource. We just lived through the costliest natural disaster in US history which was exacerbated by climate change. The City of Pasadena can transition to 100% carbon free power by 2030 and rooftop solar is a critical link.

Rooftop solar reduces our need to import power which is limited and keeps our local economy strong rather than outsourcing jobs and resources to other states.

Encouraging rooftop solar here in Pasadena will ensure our grid remains reliable, affordable, equitable, and carbon free to ensure we have a safe place to call home for future generations.

Thank you.
-Michael.
