Hi,
My name is Greg Harrison. I live on Howard Street in Pasadena and have lived in Pasadena since 2001.

I am currently a high school science teacher, helping young people understand Physics and Astrophysics and Climate Change. Previously I worked on numerous spacecraft for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

I am writing today in support of local Rooftop Solar energy.

I am keenly aware of the challenges we face to free ourselves from fossil fuels, and adopt 100% clean renewable energy.

Each year, our Earth gets warmer and warmer due to our
reliance on fossil fuels. This is an urgent priority in order to create a world with a livable climate and a better world for our children.

Furthermore, every step Pasadena makes serves as
a beacon for communities all over.

Every victory we make here in Pasadena ripples far
beyond our city and literally helps create a better world.

Rooftop Solar is an incredibly important tool in our efforts to make Pasadena 100 carbon-free.

Rooftop Solar is a distributed clean energy resource. It enables citizens to participate in harnessing the clean and free energy from the Sun.

Because of it’s distributed nature, Rooftop Solar reduces demand on the power grid .

The City of Pasadena relies on a variety of power sources to satisfy its energy needs. Rooftop solar adds a distributed and very scalable power resource which augments the energy portfolio and creates a more resilent power system for our city.

Because of it’s inherently distributed and local nature, Rooftop solar provides a true local solution to our power needs and provides energy that isn’t stopped by the bottleneck at the Goodrich receiving station. Rooftop solar enhances our energy security! My understanding is that we can meet our renewable energy goals IF we invest and grow

our homegrown clean energy Rooftop solar resources. This is incredibly fortunate!

We
have the power to invest in ourselves, and invest in local businesses, and invest in the health of the people in our community.

I urge you to recognize the beautiful world we can create with the help of Rooftop Solar.

Thank you,
-Greg Harrison
