Regarding Pasadena Water and Power's 2025 Wildfire Mitigation Plan:

On March 24, 2025, CAL FIRE issued the 2025 Recommended Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps for Southern California.

Neighborhoods adjacent to the Arroyo, such as San Rafael and Linda Vista remain in the highest severity zones (very high). While some portions of these neighborhoods have had utility undergrounding, there are still significant portions that have not been scheduled/ prioritized. These neighborhoods contain the largest number of homes in PWP's service area with the "very high" hazard rating. The number of at-risk homes increases significantly when considering adjacent "very high" rated areas of La Canada, Highland Park sections of Los Angeles, and South Pasadena.

We respectfully ask that these neighborhoods be prioritized and scheduled for utility undergrounding as the scope of a utility/ wind driven fire in the arroyo neighborhoods could be immense.

Regards,
Pasadena Resident
Andy Gooden
