My name is Mindy Pfeiffer, and my husband is Jordan Vannini. We are constituents in District 5 at and former co- presidents of Washington Square Neighborhood Association. We would like to know why we still don't have a plan for local climate action. Why isn't Pasadena getting off of carbon fuels now that it is more than two years after the Climate Emergency Resolution? In addition, why does the Operating Budget, which we believe will be on the agenda, have so little money related to the goal unanimously adopted by the City Council in its Climate Emergency Resolution in Jan. 2023? We are both very concerned about climate change, and the effects it will have on all of our lives and our planet.

Therefore, at the very least, we want our city electric power to be 100% carbon free by 2030.

Please submit this into the record at the City Council Meeting on June 9, as we are out of town and will be unable to attend the meeting in person.

Thank you,
Mindy Pfeiffer

Hello,
I am a professional environmental scientist, customer of PWP, and survivor of the Eaton Fire. Pasadena needs to come to consensus, we are in analysis paralysis mode when it comes to how to actually get to carbon free power by 2030.

We can keep studying how to best proceed but we can't actually move forward without a plan of how to get to 2030's goal and we are quickly running out of time. Meanwhile, the stakes have never been higher. With the federal government back peddling on climate action, friends and neighbors loosing everything to the costliest climate disaster yet, and carbon emissions climbing, Pasadena has an enormous responsibility to move in the right direction, take action for its utility, its people, and its future before it is too late.

We need a plan to actually get us to carbon free renewable power and we need to be already in the process of implementing this plan or else we risk inaction and not moving forward until it is too late. If we miss the deadline, we may miss the mark and never accomplish our collective goal and continue to suffer from the effects of climate change and dirty polluting and expensive energy.

We can get there and we need to hold Pasadena Water and Power accountable to actually get us there. Even the PWP website stills says we are on track to meet state requirements of 50% carbon free power by 2030. This 50% represents a failure to our promise to our citizens. If you get 50% on a test the grade you get is an "F".

Let's get an "A" and get to 100% renewable power by 2030. What do you say? 1 06/09/2025

Dear City of Pasadena Councilmembers,
I am writing as a concerned resident of Pasadena about what the city is doing to address its commitment to achieve the 100% carbon free electricity goal unanimously adopted by the City Council in its Climate Emergency Resolution in Jan. 2023. The proposed Operating Budget for FY 2026 has very little funding allocated specifically to enable the City of Pasadena to achieve its goal.

I urge you to demonstrate strong leadership as we work towards 100% carbon-free electricity.

Sincerely,
Christopher Yeh

Dear Mayor and City Council members,
As a Climate activist since 2009 I am wondering where is the movement toward making our city carbon-free by 2030, which was unanimously approved in the Climate Emergency Resolution in January 2023. Key word Emergency! Is this effort substantially reflected in the budget?
As our leaders you have the citizens' directive. You also have a moral obligation to future generations to leave our city better than when you earned your seat on the Council.

Thank you for your service to the citizens of Pasadena.

Sincerely,

Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Pasadena has committed to becoming 100% carbon-free by 2030—and now is the time to act boldly to meet that goal. Electrifying our buildings, expanding rooftop solar, and making our transportation systems cleaner and more accessible will get us there faster— and make Pasadena a healthier and safer place to live.

We must also take action to reduce the urban heat island effect by protecting trees, rejecting artificial turf, and investing in natural, green infrastructure. At the same time, cutting back on plastic and waste will reduce pollution and support a cleaner future.

These are not just environmental choices—they are community investments. Let's show that Pasadena is ready to lead with policies that improve our climate, our public health, and our quality of life.

Thank you.

Dear Mayor Gordo and Pasadena City Councilmembers,
My name is Nicholette Andrews, a resident of Pasadena 91 104,and I am writing to demand an immediate end to your support, funding, and silence regarding the violence targeting immigrant communities and protestors across our city.

ICE raids are happening in our neighborhoods. Peaceful community members are being watched, arrested, and brutalized. You may not be holding the baton, but you are holdingthe budget.

I demand you take the following actions:

Cease all cooperation with ICE. End data sharing, jail transfers, and detainers, and establish legal protections for all undocumented residents across city departments.

End the use offeree against protestors and community actions. Demand full transparency and consequences for city agencies involved in excessive policing or violence.

Redirect police and enforcement funding toward housing, public health, and social services. End programs that criminalize poverty or migration.

Make a public statement against this violence. No more silence. Your platform demands accountability.

Ifyou stay silent or complicit, know that residents like me will rememberyour inaction when our neighbors were under attack.

Sincerely,
Nicholette Andrews

Dear City Council,
As a Pasadena resident, I was very excited by the City Council's passage of the Climate Emergency Resolution in January 2023. Well done! Unfortunately, Pasadena's Operating Budget has very little monies allocated to the 1 00% carbon free electricity goal in the resolution. I urge you to consider allocating significantly more monies to the Operating Budget towards 1 00% carbon free electricity in our city by 2030.

Climate change is a reality, and it's critical Pasadena Lead in this matter. Becoming 1 00% carbon free electric by 2030 is crucial for the city, it's residents, and those looking at Pasadena's blueprint on this issue.

Best Regards,

Good Afternoon,
I am writing to express my disappointment that the city's operating budget has so little pertaining to our 100% carbon free electricity goal. We know that we need to rapidly increase the amount of local solar and storage in particular to meet the goal unanimously adopted by the City Council over two years ago. If we hope to actually achieve this goal, we need to be making investments now, not in one or two years.

Pasadena is in an excellent position to be a leader in carbon free electricity, but needs leadership that is witling to take action to seize this opportunity. I am excited about a future where all of our power comes from 1 00% carbon free sources.

Thankyou,
Sean Devey

Why is the city dragging its heels on creating a carbon free plan for a 2030 deadline? There doesn't seem to be a plan in place, a budget, or an appropriate sense of urgency.

Time is of the essence. We are already in the danger zone for heat and pollution, so it would seem the moment to take action is now. The endless consulting projects and circular discussions are not what we need now.

Help protect the next generation before it's too late.

Thank you
