Hi,
Please find attached my public comment for the July 1 , 2025 Pasadena Legislative Policy Committee Meeting, agenda item 1. Term limits of advisory boards, commissions, committees and operating companies.

Thanks,
Yadi

1. Term limits of advisory boards, commissions, committees and operating companies I am generally in support of term limits and support the Council's imitative to impose term limits across the boards and commissions.

However, I do not support granting special exemptions to the operating companies. Members serving on the operating companies are already granted the ability to serve extremely long terms. The Council is proposing to further circumvent term limits by allowing the possibility to extend the terms even further. In essence, that would allow a board member of an operating company to serve 20 years or more. That's essentially a life-time.

There is no information as to who on these boards have already achieved more than a decade of service, and what exactly they can be providing in their service to these boards that necessitates the continuation of extremely long service. For example, the Rose Bowl Operating Company has faced financial challenges for many years - and they continue. Should these board members continue to be permitted to serve? The Rose Bowl has made questionable financial decisions, squandered opportunities to take ownership of fiscal responsibility and made operating decisions that have cost Pasadena taxpayers funds that could have been used in other City programs and services.

Again, I do not support the extremely unnecessarily large exemption for operating company term limits. Please make term limits for these un-elected board members meaningful.
