Dear Councilmembers,
I am a Pasadena resident, frequently using the streets proposed as greenways on my bike (mainly EL Molino, Wilson and Sierra Bonita).
Pasadena needs to invest into pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and safety. It will benefit everyone:
improving health via active lifestyle and better air quality, creating space for children, reducing traffic.
I strongly support the Greenways project, and I hope it will create a backbone of a new pedestrian and bicycle network in Pasadena. I also hope it will help connect Pasadena with neighboring towns like ALtadena and Sout Pasadena.
Best regards,
JosefSvoboda

Hello,
I am a Pasadena resident of 5+ years, and I would like to express my strong support for the greenways project. I am employed at Caltech and JPL, and I used to bike between the two. hlowever, due to safety concerns, I had to purchase a car. Pasadena has had some strong movement on improving bike infrastructure, but there are still far too many gaps between protected bike lanes for it to be a safe method of transportation.
I would love to be able to bike, walk, and take the bus around the city. Instead, I am forced to drive, contributing to traffic and parking issues in the city. I hope you will pass the greenways project to keep up the good momentum and eventually turn Pasadena into a much nicer place to Live! Best,
Logan Foote

City Council Item 6: I support safe greenways!

Hello,
I am a resident of Sierra Bonita Avenue just south of Washington Street. I have lived in Pasadena for 3 years. Before I moved to Pasadena, I was a daily bike commuter in Chicago, Boston, and Minneapolis. I had thought that I would enjoy hiking in better weather in Pasadena, but the cycling infrastructure in the form of safe streets is so far behind these other metro areas, that even as a committed cyclist, I have greatly reduced my cycling to only certain destinations with reliable routes, on early weekend mornings when traffic is low. It doesn't have to be this way! We just need to commit to building the infrastructure and culture of safer streets.
Pasadena has an opportunity to create major greenways on these north-south passages of El Molino, Wilson, Craig, and my street, Sierra Bonita. These routes will greatly increase the safety of our neighborhood streets for cyclists and others of all ages and abilities. There are so many young families in our neighborhood, and all of us have heard too many speeding cars racing through our streets. As a young parent, I am very hopeful that we will feel safe enough to teach our children to bike and walk along their own safe street. We notice how much speed cushions control traffic and make everyone safer. Please support these safe greenways to revive this seasoned cyclist to get out more on more trips, and to protect and encourage the next generation of green commuters.
Thank you.
