This is the second time this year that police department equipment was diverted from the Public Safety Committee to the Finance Committee.
What is the point of having a public safety committee if public safety related items are agendized elsewhere?
Council is making it more difficult for the public to meaningfully participate. It is already difficult to plan to attend a 4 pm PSC meeting, and now we also have to be on the look-out (and have the flexibility) to attend additional committee meetings which are typically scheduled in the afternoons.
Will the replacement helicopters fall under AB 481 regulation? Currently, there is no proactive reporting helicopter use that don’t fall under AB 481, including use logs and associated annual costs. Will the council ensure there is equal transparency across the entire PPD helicopter fleet? The financing details for this budget item are scant. What is the cost of each helicopter separate from the service contract? What is the estimated salvage proceeds and was that factored into this budget item or ??
