Chair Hampton, Vice Mayor Rivas, and Councilmembers of the Economic Development and Technology Committee,
I write in strong support of the Pasadena Community Access Corporation's (PCAC) FY 2027 proposed budget of $1,298,000.
PCAC is an incredible civic asset. Through KPAS and its other channels, PCAC ensures that residents can watch their government in real time, follow emergency information during crises, and participate in a shared civic life that no other media platform can replicate.
The FY 2027 proposed budget represents a strong, yet responsible, investment in both PCAC's staff and the services the organization provides.
I have had the privilege of being both a community producer and a current member of the PCAC Board of Directors (where I serve as Treasurer), and I have seen firsthand the skill, dedication, and commitment of the organization's staff. While personnel costs are rising across our region, the proposed FY 2027 budget reflects the reality and necessity of retaining an unrivaled team that serves the public and PCAC's mission.
As a community information platform, PCAC not only delivers official city information and broadcasts but also offers equally impressive educational opportunities. PCAC's training programs and internships empower residents and producers with skills and confidence to participate in public life, tell their stories, and contribute to our vibrant civic conversation.
For a city with Pasadena's long history, character, and leadership, PCAC's FY2027 proposed budget is a commitment to the future we want to see in our community. For this reason, I encourage and recommend that the Committee approve the request of $1,298,000 without reduction.
Thank you for your continued leadership and service to our community.
Respectfully,
James De Pietro
