Good evening Board Members,
I am deeply disappointed to learn that support for the Turkey Tussle may be eliminated due to budget concerns.
The Turkey Tussle is more than just a football game; it is a longstanding Pasadena tradition that brings together students, families, alumni, and community members. It fosters school pride, strengthens community bonds, and creates lasting memories for generations of students.
This year, our community is still recovering from the devastating Eaton Fire. Many families experienced Loss, displacement, financial hardship, and emotional trauma. Students, parents, teachers, and community members have spent months rebuilding their lives and supporting one another during an incredibly difficult time. In moments like these, community traditions become even more important. Events such as the Turkey Tussle provide a sense of normalcy, unity, and pride at a time when our community continues to heal.
While I understand that budget challenges require difficult decisions, I question whether eliminating support for a cherished community tradition is the right choice. Before cutting programs and events that directly impact students and bring our community together, I encourage the District to explore other areas for cost savings, including administrative expenses and other non-student-facing expenditures.
Many residents are already struggling with rising costs and are looking to our schools and community institutions to preserve the traditions that make Pasadena special. The Turkey Tussle has endured for generations because it represents more than athletics—it represents resilience, community spirit, and the pride we have in our schools and our city.
Following the hardships caused by the Eaton Fire, now is the time to invest in opportunities that unite our community, not eliminate them. Once traditions like the Turkey Tussle are lost, they are often difficult to restore.
I respectfully urge the Board to reconsider this decision and explore alternative funding sources, partnerships, sponsorships, or other solutions that would allow the Turkey Tussle to continue for current and future generations.
Our students and our community deserve that commitment.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

To whom it may concern.
I am a mustang alumni , I come from a long line of mustangs . The turkey being held at the world famous Rose Bowl has been part of Pasadena High and John Muir High School for the last 78 years , it would be travesty to if the 78 year old tradition were to be discontinued.
I ask in the name of tradition and pride , please don't cancel the use of the rose bowl for the use of the Turkey Tussle . The city of Altadena has already faced the devastation of the Eaton fire please don't compound the Lose by ending the long standing tradition of battling for the beloved victory bell in the rose bowl Respectfully

To Whom It May Concern,
The Turkey Tussle tradition is as central to Pasadena as the Rose Parade. Much like the parade, this event is tied to our city's identity; it would not be the same anywhere else. While it may seem small to some, the Turkey Tussle is the equivalent of the Rose Parade for our Local students and alumni.
People travel from near and far to enjoy this season. Even as we grow up and move away, the Turkey Tussle remains the one tradition that calls us back and connects us to our community. Though times change, this is a staple that we look forward to every year to support our local high schools.
Please do not deprive Pasadena of this long-standing and cherished tradition.
Sincerely,
Karla P

[o whom this may concern, my name is Marisa Beasley. I am an alumni for Pasadena high school. I graduated in :he year of 2006. During my four years at PhlS. It was always exciting to know that we would go to the Rose Bowl :o have the Turkey Tussle against John Muir, high school. Win or lose, the event, played an important role in our .ives as high school students. The city of Pasadena is known to have the Tussle played at the Rose Bowl. People and alumni still travel to Pasadena California to this day just to come to see the Turkey Tussle played at the ^ose Bowl. Please continue on this history of keeping the Turkey Tussle at the Rose Bowl 06/15/2026

Dear Decision Makers,
I am writing to express my strong support for keeping the City of Pasadena's annual Turkey Tussle football game at the Rose Bowl.
For generations, the Turkey Tussle has been more than just a football game—it is a cherished Pasadena tradition that brings together families, students, alumni, and community members in celebration of our city's history and spirit. The Rose Bowl is not simply a venue; it is an iconic part of Pasadena's identity and an integral part of what makes this event so special.
Many residents have fond memories of attending the Turkey Tussle with parents, grandparents, and friends.
These traditions connect generations and create lasting community pride. Moving the game from the Rose Bowl would diminish an experience that has become a meaningful part of Pasadena's cultural heritage.
The Turkey Tussle showcases our Localyouth, strengthens community engagement, and highlights the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and civic pride. h-lolding the game at the Rose Bowl gives student-athletes the unique opportunityto compete in one of the most historic stadiums in the nation while creating memories that last a lifetime.
We respectfully urge you to preserve this longstanding tradition and keep the Turkey Tussle at the Rose Bowl.
Pasadena's history, community spirit, and future generations deserve the opportunity to continue experiencing this special event in its rightful home.
Thank you for your consideration and for your commitment to preserving the traditions that make Pasadena such a remarkable community.
Sincerely,l
Lisa Terry

As a graduate of John Muir High School, class of 95 I can't believe we have to beg to keep a 50+ year tradition alive in our own City. The Turkey Tussle is a t8me honored tradition each high school student of Muir and PHS Look forward too. They want to create their own memories around the game that many of their family members and friends have enjoyed through out the years. The Rose Bowl is our home just as much as the colleges that play there. Please keep the tradition alive by allowing out kids to play the Turkey Tussle at the Rose Bowl.

Dear Mayor and City Council,
made a mistake in my public comment at the Last City Council meeting regarding the transfer tax. The Howard arvis prop, if passed, will categorically eliminate transfer taxes above the bare minimum. But we can still have a /acancy tax, it will just have to pass by 2/3, something that Measure EE did which affected a much wider swath 3f the population than a vacancy tax would. As I mentioned at the last meeting, Berkeley, a slightly smaller city :han Pasadena, raises $2 mitlion-$4 million peryearthrough their vacancy tax. n our meetings with Berkely and Oakland staff, both cities report a good experience with the vacancy tax.
Oakland's tax is on both commercial and residential properties. Berkeley levies it only on residential property.
Fhe Housing element also suggests a commercial development linkage fee, which a number of cities around California levy for afford able housing.
Mso, I want to recommend that the city take a strong stand against the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association oroposition, educating the public on the damage that prop 13 has done to the public schools. Hopefully the sroposition will not pass.
also want to thank Matt h-tawksworth for bringing my mistake to my attention.
Fhanks for considering my comments,
:?ev. Bert Newton

Dear Mayor and Members of the Pasadena City Council,
I am writing to urge you to keep the Turkey Tussle at the Rose Bowl and preserve one of Pasadena's most cherished traditions.
For generations, the Turkey Tussle has been far more than a high school football game. It is a community institution that connects current residents, alumni, families, and friends across decades. The game serves as an annual homecoming for thousands of people who proudly attended John Muir High School and Pasadena High School. It brings former classmates together, strengthens community bonds, and celebrates the shared history that makes Pasadena unique.
Many alumni plan their high school reunions around the Turkey Tussle weekend. Community golf tournaments, familygatherings, and alumni meet-ups are organized specifically because of this event. The Turkey Tussle is woven into the social fabric of Pasadena. Eliminating it from the Rose Bowl would damage traditions that have united our city for generations.
The Rose Bowl is not simply a venue. It is a symbol of Pasadena's history and identity. The Turkey Tussle belongs there. Theexperience of playing this historic rivalry game in the Rose Bowl creates memories that last a lifetime for student-athletes, families, and fans. Moving the game to a high school campus would diminish an event that has long been a source of pride for the entire city.
Current and former residents have invested their time, support, and passion into this tradition for decades. The city should be looking for ways to strengthen and promote the Turkey Tussle, not distance itself from it. Pasadena has always been a community that honors its traditions while building for the future. Preserving the Turkey Tussle at the Rose Bowl reHects those values.
I respectfully ask the City Council and city leadership to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the Turkey Tussle remains at the Rose Bowl. This is not just about a football game. It is about preserving a tradition that unites generations, celebrates Pasadena's heritage, and strengthens the sense of community that makes our city special.
Please listen to the voices of alumni, residents, students, and families who care deeply about this event. The Turkey Tussle deserves to remain where it belongs—at the Rose Bowl.
Sincerely,
Erica Wilfong

Simply requesting that the Turkey Tussle be played at the Rose Bowl for the sake of pride and community. So many students have grown up under the backdrop of the Rose Bowl. To simply be able to enter in is a exciting venture. To then play, cheer and return year again makes the whole journey come to frutton. As a proud active alumni of John Muir I am requesting thoughtful consideration.

The traditions in Padadena are many. But, one of the most important for me is the TurkeyTussle at the Rosebowl. I am an alum of John Muirand was a member of the band and cheer squad. The songs and cheers bonded every class for generations. It was an electric moment to celebrate no matter how old you were. 16-80+ year olds singing and dancing to the same song and chants.
And coming back to celebrate at the Rosebowl felt like a proper homecoming. There are few things that cross the generational divide. It would be a tragedy to eliminate this one from our future.
Please support keeping the Turkey Tussle as a staple at the Rsebowl.
Thank you

I am writing you today in an effort to save one of the greatest traditions in Pasadena, the annuaLTurkeyTussel game between Pasadena hligh School and John Muir High School at the Rose Bowl.
This is something many people from in and around Pasadena look forward to year after year. I am a John Muir mustangalumni and I can't believe consideration is being made to cancel this coveted event. This is a time of community amd fellowship among all.
I urge you to rethink the cancelation of the Turkey Tussel and allow tradition to prevail. Pasadena has been though enough in recent times, please don't take this from us as well Sincerely,
