SUBJECT: MESITA ROAD LANDMARK DISTRICT (LD-30)
Dear Mayor Gordo and Members of the City Council:

Pasadena Heritage is pleased to once agam express our strong support for the designation of the IVtesita Road Landmark District.

The proposed district is a distinctive and highly intact collection of Mid-Century Modem and Modern Ranch residences, primarily designed by architect Harold B. Zook. Six of the seven properties are contributing resources, and the district is an important example of Pasadena's postwar residential development.

We particularly appreciate seeing a Mid-Century Modern neighborhood on Pasadena's eastern side considered for designation as more recent neighborhoods become eligible for recognition. The designation has the support of a majority of property owners, as well as unanimous recommendations from both the Historic Preservation Commission and Planning Commission. We are also happy to add that Pasadena Heritage did an oral history with architect Harold Zook. If any of you are interested, we would be happy to share that history with you!
Pasadena Heritage wholeheartedly supports staffs recommendation and urges the City Council to approve the Mesita Road Landmark District designation and associated Landmark Overlay Zoning District.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

Best,
^/i^ff^^/^UA>^^
