My name is Don Loewel, and I am submitting comment for tonight's EdTech Committee meeting on behalf of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and my colleague, Lizzy Okoro-Davidson, Director of the Women's Business Center at Pasadena City College.
We applaud the work of the City of Pasadena EdTech Committee, and the Division of Economic Development for their strong support of small businesses in Pasadena, and we are proud to partner with the City to support this work. As technical assistance providers, we act as boots on the ground to help execute your business development strategies by providing FREE workshops, pop-ups and 1:1 consulting for small businesses in Pasadena and surrounding areas. Between our 2 centers, we have 30 professional business consultants who are available to meet with business owners on topics like business planning, marketing, HR, Legal and accessing capital, just to name a few.
The last year, we have worked closely with the Division of Economic Development to support business accelerators focused on disaster relief, childcare, construction, small business certifications, and procurement. We believe leveraging partners like the SBDC and WBC allows the City of Pasadena to broaden its support for, and increase its impact on, local businesses. Partnerships like this create leverage that generates quantifiable business milestones including new business starts, capital acquisition and hiring, and we encourage your support for this work.
Thank you very much, and please reach out to me with any questions. Please also feel free to refer any constituents to our office at [email protected] '
