Hello Chair Madison and Committee Members,
First, I went to thank Mr. Carmona for giving me a head's up that this item is coming before your committee. Unfortunately, I have a conflict this afternoon and cannot attend or observe the meeting online.
Regarding Item 3 on your agenda today, I hope these questions are answered or addressed before any recommendation returns t the committee from your staff.
1. What has been the experience of nut allergy sufferers with Pasadena bakeries and dessert service establishments? Have there been instances of inadvertent exposure? hlow significant were those? Were there hospitalizations? Fatalities?
2. Would this only apply to bakeries and dessert service establishments or any restaurant that serves dessert?
3. What would be recommended as warnings? A single sign posted by each establishment? A label on each item?
4. What is the reaction of those potentially impacted businesses?
5. Why isn't it the responsibility of nut allergy sufferers (or their accompanying parents) to ask if there are ingredients that may trigger allergic reactions? Thank you,
Paul
