[EXTERNAL EMAIL]
Good afternoon Ms. Boyer
This is Marilu Gomez and I am reapplying for the City Library Board of Trustee position that will become vacant as my term ends.. I apologize, but due to a work commitment, I will not be able to attend the interview this coming Wednesday May 10. I do, however, would like to express some of the reasons why I would like to continue supporting our City Library and our community as a whole.

My children grew up in Paso and our library was their third home (after their second which was their school). Their love for reading today stems from the many hours that we spent at the library, whether reading or at sponsored events.

My job as a School Readiness Coordinator for our school district connects me to parents of young children that I connect to our City Library as well as many other organizations that promote early literacy.

I am bilingual and bicultural, (Spanish/English) which allows me to communicate with our English Language Learners (both young and old)) who can utilize the many services our library offers in a "safe" environment.

I attend school parent meetings, community meetings, hold my own parent meetings, and at every opportunity that I have I encourage families to visit the library and or the importance of supporting our libraries.

As a Library Board member, I promote its many services as well as advocate to get more services for our constituents.

On a very personal note, when I became a U.S Citizen, I promised myself that I would do my civic duty and volunteer as much as possible in my community. As I work with others whose path of citizenship will be in the future, I put myself as an example of the importance of becoming part of the community where we live and make it better by volunteering.

I would be honored if you consider me a candidate for a second term as a Library Trustee.

Sincerely,
Marilu Gomez
