E. DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. Appointment to Fill the Vacancy in the Office of the Mayor and Discussion of Op�ons to Fill An�cipated Vacancy on City Council
PUBLIC COMMENT: Linda George and Dale Gus�n.
Mo�oned by Councilmember Gregory, seconded by Councilmember Strong, and passed unanimously to appoint John Hamon as mayor.
AYES: Gregory, Strong, Bausch, Hamon
A�er the mo�on was passed, City Clerk Melissa Boyer administered the oath of office to Mayor Hamon. Councilmembers then con�nued the discussion of this item to address how they would like to pursue filling the District 1 vacancy created by the appointment. Council directed staff to accept applica�ons to fill the vacancy from 9/11/2023 - 9/21/2023 and to schedule a special City Council mee�ng on 9/26/2023 allowing the Council to review the applica�ons, conduct interviews with the applicants, and to consider making an appointment at that �me.
