CEQA Determination: The City finds that this action is not a project under the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to State Guidelines Section State CEQA Guidelines, §§ 15060, subd. (c)(2)-(3), 15378.
The Commission serves at the pleasure of the City Council as a means to aid the City Council in gathering public input on the operation and future development of the Paso Robles Airport, by providing advice to the City Council, and by making decisions in those areas delegated by the City Council. Council will be appointing for two vacancies. Applications were received from the following individuals:

Each Councilmember will complete a ranking sheet following each interview. When the interviews are concluded, there will be a brief break in the meeting and City staff will collect the ranking sheets and tally the results. The meeting will reconvene and staff will share the ranking of the top three candidates. Councilmembers will deliberate, and the Mayor will ask for motions to nominate applicants to fill the vacancies. Council will vote and the Mayor will announce the names of those appointed to the Airport Commission.

I've lived in Paso Robles since 2015 with my lovely wife and children. There is no other place we'd rather live. When not working, I spend most of my time with them around the house, or venturing off for family activities. Each year, I look forward to coaching my 8 year old boy who plays Paso Robles Youth Baseball.
I decided to apply for the Airport Commision to make use of my experience and give back to the community. Our backyard overlooks the airport from afar, and so viewing the incoming and outgoing aircraft is part of our daily observations and appreciation of the airport's importance here in Paso Robles. Furthermore, I spend several weeks over the course of each year on the NASA Ames campus providing A/V support, communication, and talent management services. Oddly enough, just after sending this application, I will be heading out to participate in this year's Aeronautics Innovation Forum in Mountain View.

I have literally been immersed in Aviation from berth. Flying with my father from the age of 5. The Air Scouts (Explorers) where I started flight training in 1958. Getting my license in 1964. Starting a parts business with my Dad in 1968 specializing in Beechcraft parts, then leaving in 1977 to start my own company specializing in Military and commercial aircraft lighting. Which I still operate today ON the PRB Airport, in the 20,000 sq ft building I had custom built for me in 1994. Which consists of 3 large hangars, a warehouse, and offices. Though I am retiring and selling the company. Which will give me more time to devote to this position. In addition I have owned/maintained and operated over 50 different aircraft, from civilian to older military (Warbirds) as well as classic aircraft from the 40's and 50's. I have even performed in air shows here over the years in my aircraft. I am still licensed to fly although I have retired from aircraft ownership and their operation. Theres not much I havent done in an airplane and it was enough for one lifetime.
I am passionate about and understand the importance of a towns local airport. Someone once said "The main runway in ANY TOWN is the most IMPORTANT street in it".
Something I truly believe. I was close friends with Archie Dean, Kim Lilly (POrt-a-Port) and many other of our airports citizens over the years. Moving my business here in 1981.

Most of my life has been spent on and around Airports. Growing up in the shadow of Burbank Airport and Van nuys.
I would be proud to represent our local airport in any way the committee would see fit. I have the time, the desire and the commitment to support Aviation in any way I am able.
I feel that our Airport has never gotten the attention it needs to grow and prosper. To be a part of helping to change that would be a crowning achievement to my commitment and my support of aviation in whatever form it takes.
On a personal level, I am healthy and fit, and see no obstacles to giving whatever time and talent I am able to this Commision.

Dear City Council,
I would like to submit my application for the vacancy position for Airport Commissioner. I am interested in this position because I feel like this would be a great opportunity to serve the community given my background in the airline industry. I have a good working knowledge of the airline industry in general given the various roles I have performed over my career.
I started my career at American Airlines in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I served as a Senior Financial Analyst in Corporate Receivables. I oversaw various financial budgets, managed accounting teams as well as managed technical teams for financial system improvements.
I was then promoted within American Airlines to Marketing Manager, Central U.S. based in Chicago, Illinois. I was responsible for a marketing team and preparing marketing plans for the various airline routes based out of O’Hare International Airport.
My duties also included presenting budgets, forecasts, and route performance reviews to American Airlines senior executives as well as other departments. I also liaised with American Airlines O’Hare operations with respect to sharing Sales and Marketing projects.
My current role is Vice President of Operations and Services for UATP, Inc. for which I have now worked over 22 years. UATP is a global airline owned financial company that processes corporate and consumer payment transactions worldwide for the airlines. I am responsible for a team that manages our global data processing systems as well as a team that works directly with the airlines to connect to internal and external systems.
With respect to my education, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Oklahoma State University (1991) and an M.B.A. specializing in Marketing and Finance from Oklahoma State University (1995).
I would like the opportunity to serve on the Commission to provide input and advice for the advancement of the operation and future development of the Paso Robles Municipal Airport. Thank you for your consideration.
