The Paso Robles Library in my mind is a cornerstone to our community. I served on the library fundraising committee and even chaired the annual event when we first moved to town in 1996. I spent many years taking my children to the library programs in the summer. It would be an honor to serve on the board.

As a mother, library school liaison, and someone who holds an MLIS, I would be honored to be a part of the Library Board of Trustees. Given the state of libraries in California and particularly in our county, I am not actively working as a librarian. I believe that libraries are not a privelege or enrichment, but are necessary and vital to create lifelong reading in children but also as a community service to adults.

Over the past ten years, I have worked in libraries in three different school districts in SLO County. I currently work as the drama teacher and PRCL library liaison for Almond Acres Charter Academy. I have loved working with Taylor over the past six months and collaborating on how to best serve a community of students that does not have access to a school library or a librarian who can teach information literacy skills. We realized that a steep majority of my AACA students had never even been to the PRCL library before the field trips that we organized. The students didn't understand that the books were free or that the library offers programs. I would like to be more involved with the library outreach program and how to make the library feel more inclusive to all families.
