I love being apart of the community and I've always enjoyed having opportunities to speak up for myself and others needs. Many different people have impacted the way I've grown up in Paso Robles and I want to give back to those who have created the person I am now. I founded the Paso Robles High School Just Serve Club and am the current president which has taught me responsibility, obligation, accountability, communication, and the importance of service. Aside from that, I've always been ivolved with school and my community doing different service activities and projects with my Church and other school clubs that have taught me how to manage my time and to give my best effort in everything I do. I love learning, meaning I've grown to take any and every chance I am given to gain experience, education. Because of this, I was inclined to join Paso's Youth commision to have another valuable asset to my growing education. I have been raised serving my community thanks to the support from my parents, and I want to contine this throughout my future. I've taken Leadership classes and am captain of my Club soccer team which comes with practicing almost daily how to effectively lead and manage a team.

I'm interested in joining the Youth Commission to create a place where people and civilians feel safe.
That event was the turning point
for me. I promised myself ever since that day I would never allow myself to ignore someone in need ever again. I promised that if I ever saw someone in need of assistance, I would do the same thing my sister did for me. Although there are most likely people out there who are more qualified than me. I believe joining the Youth Commission is the next step for me to help people in need and to create a healthy community.

My interest in applying to serve on this advisory body stems from the genuine willingness to assist the paso robles youth community in the process of further fostering an environment that is uplifting , fun and enriching. The qualifications that I will bring on to the advisory body range from early childhood education and healthcare which have provided me with hands-on experience in socializing and collaborating with other students. As a member of the youth commission I would gain experience in how advisory bodies work within local governments which is an experience that I would truly value as advocating policy for the youth is a contribution that I will be fully committed to becoming a member of.

Please provide a brief statement regarding your interest and /or qualifications for applying to serve on this advisory body.:
I am very excited to apply to serve on the Paso Robles Youth Commission. I served on this commission last year and enjoyed my time volunteering on the committee to bring youth together, and I believe my contributions to the council were helpful. I look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate why I believe I would be a good candidate to serve another term on the Youth Commission.
I believe in the importance of bringing youth together in order to create communities where people feel safe and accepted. In my first term on the Youth Commission I volunteered on a subcommittee to plan a large event attended by approximately sixty teens. The purpose of the event was to have a night where teens could enjoy games and food free of charge, in an effort to build a meaningful community. I supported this project from its conception to its execution. With the collaboration of three others, we considered what teens might want for a fun event, such as the inclusion of laser tag and decided on offering pizza and drinks. We redesigned the fliers for the event and distributed them to advertise the event. In order to create a successful event I got there early to help set up laser tag, as well the signage and the other games. Participants enjoyed spending time with friends as well as making connections with new people.Ultimately, this event created a space where teens could be themselves. My involvement with this event demonstrates my ability to plan, organize, and execute events for the youth of my community.

If given the opportunity to serve another term, I hope to build upon the work that I have already started. One way the Youth Commission could create community with teens while also supporting their academics could be to have a college application night, where high school students could either start preparing their college application package or finish creating their college applications by receiving help on their essays and resumes from teachers, professors, or other experts. Another way to build community would be to create a community garden for teens. By creating a space where communities can come together to help each other, to not only learn how to garden and work with the earth but to also give back to those in need by donating the produce to a local soup kitchen or homeless shelter.
I would be excited to serve another year on the Paso Robles Youth Commission and believe my prior experience with the commission would allow me to make a difference in serving the youth of my community. I believe my curiosity, consistency, and dedication to helping others would benefit the commission and my community. Thank you for your consideration.
