How General Obligation Bonds
Work
How General Obligation Bonds Work
What are GO Bonds?
Essentially loans repaid by a project-specific
tax levied on all property within the school
District’s boundaries.
Taxation & Timing
Tax to repay GO Bonds does not start upon
voter passage; it only begins after the bonds
are actively issued and sold.
Repayment Structure
Bonds have a fixed payment schedule. The
County Treasurer is obligated to levy taxes
sufficient for repayment, regardless of rate.
Allowed Use of Proceeds
Dedicated to school facilities construction,
rehabilitation, or property acquisition. Never
used for administrator salaries.
Why the Board Placed Measure G on the Ballot
