While I reside just outside of town past the cemetery on Nacimiento Lake Drive, I consider myself a resident of this wonderful city. We moved to Paso in 2018 and have raised our children in this beautiful city enjoying the parks since before they could walk.

Now my girls are playing soccer at Barney Schwartz every weekend with AYSO. My hope is that my service to this committee would be a way to give back to the city and ensure that there are outdoor spaces for children and adults to enjoy for many years to come.

Moved back to the Bay Area for work in 2009 for 15 years. In October 2024, I moved back to Paso Robles to be near family again. I work remotely for a publicly held company.

I currently sit on the Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Committee.

REACH Central Coast, San Luis Obispo, CA 2021 to 2024

My name is Sean Engler, and I am a career firefighter with a strong interest in serving my community. I am interested in being considered for appointment to the Airport Commission because I would like to contribute my public safety experience and community perspective to the continued operation and development of the airport.

While I do not have a professional background in aviation or airport operations, I believe my career in public safety has given me experience that can provide a valuable perspective to the Commission. My work as a firefighter has required me to understand risk, emergency response, public safety, communication, and the importance of balancing operational needs with the interests of the community.

I also have a personal connection to the airport as a resident who lives along the approach flight path. This has given me an interest in understanding the airport not only from the perspective of the community surrounding it, but also in how its operations affect the residents and businesses in the area.

Additionally, the airport's role in supporting CAL FIRE and CHP air operations highlights their importance as a public-safety resource, which is of particular interest to me given my profession. I would welcome the opportunity to learn more about airport operations and contribute a practical, public-safety-oriented perspective while working collaboratively with other Commission members, airport staff, and the community.

I am interested in serving because I believe local government and community commissions benefit from residents who are willing to learn, listen to different perspectives, and contribute their professional experience to the decision-making process. I would be honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Airport Commission.

I have made an effort to become involved in and better understand the aviation community in Paso Robles and throughout the Central Coast. Over the past several months, I have personally connected with local aircraft mechanics, maintenance and restoration shops, aviation parts businesses, and other aviation professionals to learn more about their operations, challenges, and needs.

I believe the continued success of the Paso Robles Municipal Airport depends not only on its infrastructure, but also on fostering a strong and collaborative aviation community.

I am particularly interested in listening to the perspectives of airport users, tenants, businesses, mechanics, pilots, and community members and helping identify opportunities to strengthen aviation services and encourage responsible economic development at the airport.

As a Paso Robles community member pursuing a professional career in aviation, I have a long-term interest in seeing the airport as a safe, active, economically valuable, and welcoming aviation resource for the community.

Airport Commission
I am interested in serving on the Airport Commission because I care deeply about the future of aviation in Paso Robles and would like to contribute to the growth and success of the Paso Robles Municipal Airport. I am currently pursuing my FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification through Cuesta College's Aviation Maintenance Technology program and hold an Associate of Science degree in Mathematics, as well as aviation electronics certifications and training.

Professionally, I have more than ten years of experience in technical troubleshooting, problem solving, customer support, and working with complex systems. My aviation education and hands-on maintenance experience have further strengthened my understanding of aircraft operations, maintenance, safety, and the needs of the aviation community.

Over the past several months, I have also made a deliberate effort to connect personally with local aviation mechanics, maintenance providers, parts businesses, and other members of the aviation community. I believe a successful airport benefits from a strong sense of community and open communication among the people and businesses that depend on it. Building these relationships has given me the opportunity to listen to their experiences and better understand the needs, concerns, and opportunities they see for aviation in our area.

I am particularly interested in supporting efforts that strengthen our local aviation community, attract and retain aviation businesses, expand maintenance and other aviation services, and ensure the airport remains a valuable economic and community asset for Paso Robles.

I would welcome the opportunity to bring my technical, analytical, and aviation background, along with the relationships I am developing within our local aviation community, to the Commission while learning from its other members and contributing to the airport’s long-term development.

Sincerely,

There are many changes on the horizon for the Paso Robles Airport. Pressure inside and outside the community will have the potential to shape the future of this facility as either an asset or a burden to the community. The Commission needs knowledgable local citizens to shape an appropriate and practical future. I have been fortunate to have been a business owner at the airport for the last 9 years. I have spent @ 320 days a year physically present at the airport providing aviation services, coordinating with City officials and interacting with City employees, airport users, aircraft owners, pilots, and transcient visitors. I was priviliged to serve on the FBO Review Committee and the recently completed Master Plan Committee. I have assisted City Staff with aircraft emergencies, aircraft movement, and employee training. I feel I could provide a knowledable persceptive from a current General Aviation viewpoint. The goal is to provide the best environment for all users, cognate partners, and the local population in general to benefit from this truely special community resource.

I am a tennant of the airfield, (Delta Taxiway, 406) and have been for 5 years. I have been a private pilot for 30 years, September 2026, also possesing a multi-engine insturment rating. I love all things aviation and aviation has remained my passion since I was very young. I am familiar with general aviation operations, hangers, and safety. I was a U.S. Naval officer overseeing many complex military operations at sea. Departing USS California (CGN-36) a Lieutenant. I started and was CEO of my own company-- gaining much business experiece over 6-7 years and understand growth through relationships, connectivity, and using a "what do you think" democratic style of leadership to get the best possible solutions to problems, or in advancement of business goals. At a previous home base airport, Byron, CA (C83), I was the designated AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) Airprots Support Network volunteer for the Byron airfield, interfacing with pilots on issues at hand and serving the airports needs as they arrose.

With AOPA's national assistance, we worked through, sometimes, challenging situations where we presented to committees in defense of the airport's best interests. I worked with airport management at two airports in the county (Contra Costa, CA), and AOPA regional apporintees in the AOPA space based in Maryland. I am familiar with Airport Master plans and how the document guides future endeavors for growth and financial benefit from the FAA.

I see the envisioned tech corrider as a way to grow with the community, supporting our already vibrant tourism and wine industries. Growing together, in a balanced, listening way. I feel the contribution and thoughts of the community very important to the longterm success of the airport asset, working closely with airport management and listening to pilots on a regular basis. Partnership and open communication. In serving as a commissioner, I would keep this top of mind.

Page 59 of 63 ends

I very much want to work with leaders to achieve the incredible potential Paso Robles Airport has to offer the community in the future. Yielding, over time, a Paso Robles proud achivement and adding to the great history of the City. From land lease, marketing, and revenue potential, this will be a tremendous time to promote talented, highly educated students, especially from Cal Poly and Cuesta, to remain in SLO county with competive pay, and challenging positions in companies within the proposed areas around the airport. I am especially interested in discusssions about optimizing airport land use. In essence, contributing to balancing general aviation needs, and commercial growth. Commercial aerospace growth and the ongoing FAA application process for Paso Robles Spaceport is an exciting California accomplishment already, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of this exciting project. I currently serve and am a member on the Spaceport Working Group.
