RECOMMENDATION
Motion to Approve Resolution No. 2022-08, Accepting as complete the Las Palmas Ave Overlay Project; Authorize Staff to File the Notice of Completion and Commence the Warranty Period; and Approve the requested Budget Adjustment.
BACKGROUND
The purpose of this project was to maintain and improve roadway safety within the City of Patterson. The work consisted of excavating areas of pavement that were severely damaged and reconstructing them with full pavement overlay. Rubberized recycled asphalt materials were utilized on the pavement. The improvements included the reconstruction of curb ramps and crosswalks to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, replacement of existing storm drainpipes and inlets, existing detector loops and the adjustment of existing manholes and valve covers to finished grade. This project also included existing infrastructure improvements to the City sewer and water systems.
ANALYSIS
Once the project is accepted by the City Council as complete, the Warranty Period will begin, and the Notice of Completion will be recorded. There will be a one-year warranty on all project components and a three-year warranty on the rubberized asphalt part of the project. During construction it was discovered that the required improvements to the existing water system were more extensive than originally thought. There were broken valves that needed to be replaced and some additional water services added. All the improvements to the water system were vital to maintain the integrity of the system.
FISCAL IMPACT
Due to the required extra work on the city water system, City Staff is requesting a budget adjustment of $159,104.66 from fund 611 Water Funds.
