RECOMMENDATION
Patterson Public Safety Center Design Progress
BACKGROUND
The Patterson Public Safety Center (PPSC) will have a layout and design that is consistent with the downtown architecture and be located along Del Puerto Avenue, behind City Hall. The proposed PPSC will be a joint-use facility between Patterson's Law Enforcement (Administration and Operations) and the Fire Administration. This new building will be two stories to be consistent with the City Hall building and be approximately 20,000 square feet in total area.
This project is currently being designed by PBK Architects and coordination with city staff.
ANALYSIS
The design for this project began in November 2021 when project was awarded to PBK Architects. City Staff and PBK have ongoing bi-weekly meetings with Police and Fire as the design moves forward. The first part of the design process was the existing conditions assessment to plan for the new two story building layout. City staff, PBK Architects, Police and Fire reviewed the findings from the previously completed feasibility study and cohesive floor plans were generated based on these findings. The building programming and conceptual design were recently completed in March 2022. The next step will be to complete the design by early spring 2023, and estimated to start construction in summer 2023. This presentation will be to update City Council on the current status and provide City Council with an opportunity to comment on the preliminary design.
