SUBJECT: Approve City Vehicles/Equipment Surplus for FY 2021/2022
RECOMMENDATION
Motion to Approve City Vehicles/Equipment Surplus for FY 2021/2022.
BACKGROUND
The vehicles listed below are at the end of their service life and are ready for surplus. Pending Council approval, the following list of items will be sent to Auction, sold, or disposed of, as it has been the City’s standard practice.
Vehicle Description VIN No. License#
2004 GMC Savana Comercial Van (#110) 1GDJG31U741210772 1285504 1971 Chevy Retrofitted Collections Unit (#112) TPY54V500634 030020
ANALYSIS
Vehicles are replaced using age and mileage criteria. Vehicles are categorized end of service life when they reach 15-years, or they have reached 100,000 miles or service hours. Once vehicles have surpassed the 15-years and mileage criteria they are placed on the surplus or replacement list. The Fleets Division inspects all city vehicles and equipment on an annual basis and determined if they are left in service for another year or are ready for surplus or replacement.
The above vehicles have been evaluated and unfortunately these vehicles are old and are no longer being utilized due to age and end of service life criteria. Therefore, staff is recommending approval from the City Council to authorize surplus of both vehicles.
The City utilizes an on-line auction process to surplus all vehicles/equipment.
FISCAL IMPACT
The revenue received from the surplus will be credited back to its designated budget.
