Proclamation
WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
“March 2023”
Whereas, Women, have paved the way through leadership, innovation, and have made significant contributions in science, medicine, technology, business, politics, entrepreneurship, and arts and culture; and
Whereas, Women have been leaders in securing their own rights of suffrage and equal opportunity; and in the civil rights, and peace movements, creating a more fair and just society for all; and Whereas, Whether serving in elected positions across the United States, leading groundbreaking civil rights movements, venturing into unknown frontiers, or programming revolutionary technologies, generations of women that knew their gender was no obstacle to what they could accomplish have long stirred new ideas and opened new doors, having a profound and positive impact on our community; and Whereas, We must recognize when telling the story of the United States history, that despite their many contributions, the role of women in history has been consistently overlooked and undervalued; and Whereas, History cannot be properly shared without sharing the extraordinary women that have made significant contributions to the growth, strength and evolution of the City of Patterson, the State of California, and the Unites States of America in countless ways; and Whereas, In the City of Patterson, we must recognize and celebrate that we have been better served by in our history by having women in various leadership roles including city council, city committees, and local school boards; and
Whereas, In the City of Patterson, we must recognize and celebrate the positive impact current women leaders have had on future women leaders in the City of Patterson; and Whereas, the City of Patterson encourages its citizens to recognize and celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of woman in our community not just one day or one month, but every day; and then Therefore: Be it resolved that the City of Patterson proclaims the month of March 2023 as Women’s History Month. We humbly thank and pay homage to all City of Patterson women past and present for their strength and courage as well as their empowerment of others.
