2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PATTERSON 4 APPROVING ADOPTION OF NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK (NPWW) CELEBRATION ON MAY 21st – May 27
th 5 , 2023 FOR THE CITY OF PATTERSON
6 7 WHEREAS, public works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services 8 that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, 9 high quality of life and well-being of the people of City of Patterson; and 10 11 WHEREAS, these infrastructure, facilities and services could not be provided without 12 the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, who are engineers, managers and employees 13 at all levels of government and the private sector, who are responsible for rebuilding, improving 14 and protecting our nation’s transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste 15 systems, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential for our citizens; and 16 17 WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the citizens, civic leaders and children in City 18 of Patterson to gain knowledge of and to maintain a progressive interest and understanding of the 19 importance of public works and public works programs in their respective communities; and 20 WHEREAS, the year 2023 marks the 63
rd 21 annual National Public Works Week
22 sponsored by the American Public Works Association and this year’s theme is “Connecting the 23 World through Public Works”; and
24 25 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of 26 Patterson, do hereby designate the week May 21 – 27, 2023 as National Public Works Week; I 27 urge all citizens to join with representatives of the American Public Works Association/Canadian 28 Public Works Association and government agencies in activities, events and ceremonies 29 designed to pay tribute to our public works professionals, engineers, managers and employees 30 and to recognize the substantial contributions they make to protecting our national health, safety, 31 and quality of life.
