SUBJECT: Motion to Reappoint Peter P. La Torre Jr. MD to the Stanislaus County Measure L Citizens Oversight Committee for the Term 2023 - 2026.
RECOMMENDATION
Motion to Reappoint Peter P. La Torre Jr. MD to the Stanislaus County Measure L Citizens Oversight Committee for the Term 2023 - 2026.
BACKGROUND
Measure L is the Transportation Ordinance and Expenditure Plan approved by Stanislaus County Voters on November 8, 2016. The measure raises the sales tax in Stanislaus County by one-half for a total period of 25 years to improve our local streets and roads, improve connectivity and reduce congestion. This money is administered by the Stanislaus Council of Governments (StanCOG) and pays for specific voter-approved transportation projects for local streets and road improvements and regional projects and transit programs specified in the Plan.
Measure L calls for an independent Citizens Oversight Committee to oversee compliance with the Ordinance as specified in the Transportation Ordinance and plan.
Measure L Citizens Oversight Committee members represent each of StanCOG's member agencies.
Dr. La Torre has served on the committee since 2017. He has demonstrated interest and has a history of participating in community activities and government policy making, therefore staff recommends and supports the City Council in their appointment of Dr. Peter La Torre Jr. as the City of Patterson's representative on the Stanislaus County Citizens Oversight Committee for Measure L.
