REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF INTENT TO DONATE SURPLUS FIRE APPARATUS TO THE
CITY OF PATTERSON FIRE DEPARTMENT FIREFIGHTING PROGRAM
Fiscal Impact: None
The Fire Department is requesting your Board's approval to donate a surplus fire training apparatus under the provisions of section 538 of the Administrative Procedures Manual, to the City of Patterson Fire Department for their firefighting program. Your board has previously approved the practice of donating fire apparatus to organizations that do not have the resource to acquire such fire apparatus on their own.
The fire apparatus for donation has minimal residual value to the County, but it will be highly valued by the City of Patterson Fire Department firefighting program. The fire apparatus considered for donation is in marginal shape, was donated to our department from the City of Los Angeles and was used as a training apparatus. The fire apparatus will be used for training purposes within the City of Patterson and the City will be responsible for all repairs and upkeep.
There is minimal firefighting equipment on the apparatus that is old and no longer needed for our use. The apparatus to be donated is a 1976 Seagrave Tiller Truck that is valued at $5,000, VIN# E76046, Z4746.
Established in 1935, the City of Patterson Fire Department is an 18-person all-hazards fire department with two fire stations that until 2005, relied on an all-volunteer force.
Therefore, IT IS RECOMMENDED that your Board approve the Fire Department's intent to donate the fire apparatus listed above and direct the Clerk of the Board to publish the notice.
After publication, this request will be placed on the agenda for final action.
Sincerely,
AARON DUNCAN
