BACKGROUND
The purpose of this project was to maintain and improve roadway safety within the City of Patterson. This project consisted of an overlay/road reconstruction with dig outs as needed along Sperry Avenue between American Eagle Avenue and Ward Avenue in the City of Patterson. The road segment where construction occurred spans approximately half a mile. The road functions as a Minor Arterial Road, allowing a main route through the City for residents and the transportation of goods. Prior to overlaying, pavement surfaces with severe conditions were excavated and reconstructed with aggregate base and asphalt concrete. In addition, all crosswalks within the project area were reconstructed to meet the most current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards. All improvements are located within the City of Patterson right-of-way.
ANALYSIS
This project consisted of providing a 2-inch overlay on Sperry Avenue from American Eagle Avenue to Ward Avenue. The work consisted of excavating areas of pavement that were severely damaged and reconstructing them with full pavement overlay. These improvements included the reconstruction of curb ramps and crosswalks that did not meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. New thermoplastic striping and pavement markings were also applied.
The total cost for construction was $1,575,590.80.
The City received a request from the Contractor, JV Lucas Paving, Inc., to be placed on the City Council agenda for acceptance of the Sperry Avenue Improvements Phase II Project located between American Eagle Avenue and Ward Avenue. City personnel, including members of Engineering and Public Works, as well as the Contractor, have conducted a final inspection and the project is ready for Council acceptance.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact with this item. Final total project costs were within the allocated budget.
