Proclamation
WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
“March 2024”
Whereas, March marks National Women’s History Month, and the National Women's History Alliance has designated the theme for Women's History Month 2024 as "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion”; and
Whereas, this theme recognizes and honors the significant contributions of women who have committed themselves to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout various aspects of society; and
Whereas, women from diverse backgrounds have consistently led efforts to address systemic inequities and foster a more inclusive and equitable society; and Whereas, the fearless advocacy of women towards concrete objectives such as equity, diversity, and inclusion serves as an inspiration and guiding force for both individuals and communities alike; and Whereas, in 2024, we commend the tireless efforts of women who have worked to dismantle barriers, challenge prejudices, and foster opportunities for all, despite attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs and training in our institutions; and Whereas In the City of Patterson, it's essential that we acknowledge and celebrate the positive impact of having women in various leadership roles throughout our history. Their contributions have greatly benefited our community. This includes their roles within the city council, city committees, and local school boards.; and
Whereas, In the City of Patterson, we must recognize and celebrate the positive impact current women leaders have had on future women leaders; and
Whereas, the City of Patterson encourages its citizens to recognize and celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of woman in our community not just one day or one month, but every day; and then Therefore: Be it resolved that the City of Patterson proclaims March 2024 as Women’s History Month.
We humbly thank and pay homage to all City of Patterson women past and present for their strength and courage as well as their empowerment of others.
