MEETING DATE: May 7, 2024
ITEM NO: 10.1
SUBJECT: Adopt the City’s 2024 - 2028 Strategic Plan.
RECOMMENDATION
Motion to Adopt the City’s 2024 - 2028 Strategic Plan.
BACKGROUND
A strategic plan is a comprehensive road map that outlines an organization’s long-term goals, objectives, and actions required to achieve them. It is a forward-looking document that guides decision-making and resource allocation, ensuring all efforts align with the organization’s mission and vision. In fiscal year 2017, the Patterson City Council approved the 2017 - 2021 Patterson Strategic Plan; setting a course of action to effectively administer services and projects through established goals, objectives, and strategies.
The 2017-2021 Strategic Plan was completed by Moss Adams LLP and has served the city well but required an update to stay current with the City Council’s goals and priorities.
ANALYSIS
The Strategic Plan Update began in July 2023 and has now reached its final stage of completion.
The plan included a comprehensive input and review process to ensure alignment with city priorities and goals, including:
· Gathering input from City Council members through interviews and review of draft plans.
· Engaging City staff through interviews, group work sessions, and review of draft plans. · Soliciting community input through stakeholder interviews, community surveys, and presentations.
After conducting numerous outreach initiatives and incorporating invaluable feedback from the City Council, staff, and the community into the final draft plan, we now request approval of the plan for adoption by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact as a result of this report. All costs associated with the development of the Strategic Plan Update have been included in the approved fiscal year 2023-24 budget. Any project done as a result of the plan will be included in future fiscal year budgets or brought back to City Council for necessary budget approval as needed.
