55th ANNUAL PROFESSIONAL
MUNICIPAL CLERKS WEEK
“May 5, 2024 – May 11, 2024”
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, May 2024 marks the 55th annual Professional Municipal Clerks week sponsored by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks; and
WHEREAS the Office of the Professional Municipal Clerk, a time honored and vital part of local government exists throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Professional Municipal Clerk is the oldest profession among public servants that provides a professional link between the citizens, local governing bodies and agencies of government at the local, county and state level; and
WHEREAS, Professional Municipal Clerks have pledged to perform their duties with integrity, neutrality and impartiality, rendering equal service to all; and WHEREAS, the Professional Municipal Clerk for the City of Patterson provides oversight for legislative proceedings and professional support to the City Council, City Manager, and City Staff serving as the City’s Elections Official and Filing Officer, Records Manager, prepares and distributes City Council agendas in accordance with the Brown Act, maintains the legislative record of Council proceedings, oversees Board and Commission appointments, and acts as custodian to the City Seal; and WHEREAS, Professional Municipal Clerks continually strive to improve the administration of the affairs of the office consistent with applicable laws through participation in education programs, seminars, workshops and the annual meetings of their state, provincial, county and international professional organizations; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk of Patterson is an active member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), the City Clerks Association of California (CCAC), serving as a mentor to new clerks, and The National Association of Election Officials.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Michael Clauzel as Mayor of the City of Patterson, do hereby recognize the week of May 5th through May 11th, 2024, as PROFESSIONAL MUNICIPAL CLERKS WEEK, and further extend appreciation to our City Clerk Alegre and Deputy City Clerk Mandujano, and to all Professional Municipal Clerks for the vital services they perform and their exemplary dedication to the communities they represent.
