ITEM NO: 9.1
SUBJECT: Accept and appropriate revenue from the surplus sale of the 2001 Spartan Fire Engine and authorize the Finance Department to make the necessary budget adjustments.
RECOMMENDATION
Motion to Accept and appropriate revenue from the surplus sale of the 2001 Spartan Fire Engine and authorize the Finance Department to make the necessary budget adjustments.
BACKGROUND
On October 3, 2023, the City Council approved the surplus of a 2001 Spartan Fire Engine per the City’s standard practice. In February 2024, the Fire Department used a third-party vendor, Public Surplus, to conduct an online auction. The auction concluded and revenue from the auction in the amount of $20,099.01 was received. Said funds were deposited into the City surplus revenue account 100-000-5710.
ANALYSIS
Per the City Council’s approval in October 2023, the revenue was to be returned to its designated budget. The department is requesting that the surplus revenue of $20,099.01 be accepted and appropriated in the Fire Department’s operational account.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact. With Council approval, the Finance Department will increase the budget in revenue account 100-000-5710 and the funds will be used to fund the requested appropriation in account 100-400-7510 for use.
