RESOLUTION NO. 2024-55
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PATTERSON
APPROVING THE AGREEMENT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES WITH THE COUNTY OF STANISLAUS EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2024.
WHEREAS, the City of Patterson desires to ensure the safety and security of its residents by contracting with the County of Stanislaus Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services within its boundaries and the County agrees to provide the services pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the parties have legal authority to enter into this Agreement pursuant to Article I, Chapter 1, Part 2, Division 1, Title 5, sections 556632 of the Government Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement shall be effective from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2029, with provisions for extension, termination, and a transition plan for law enforcement responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, the County shall provide general and ancillary law enforcement services within City limits, utilize the same dispatch services, and exclude services under Joint Power Agreements or task force MOUs, with annual reviews and adjustments as necessary; and WHEREAS, the Agreement includes compensation, billing procedures, and revenue retention details, with the County acting as independent contractor and County personnel remaining County employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Patterson as follows:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves the Agreement for law enforcement services between the City of Patterson and the County of Stanislaus, effective July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2029.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the Agreement any necessary amendments on behalf of the City of Patterson Section 3. The City manager and City Staff are directed to take all necessary actions to implement the terms of the Agreement.
