BACKGROUND
The City of Patterson Hometown Hero program was implemented in November 2021. The program like many other programs statewide, provides the opportunity for their community to recognize and honor their residents and their immediate family members who have either served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces, are First Responders, or Frontline Workers. The City has an online application process and an established eligibility criteria for this program. The cost is $200 per banner per year.

Hometown Hero banners are displayed on city-owned streetlight poles on Sperry Avenue (from Las Palmas Avenue to Baldwin Avenue) promote civic pride within the community. The program has had good participation during its first year, and the city would like to continue the program.

ANALYSIS
During the first years 18 -21 banners were displayed and for the upcoming 2024-25 year, a total of 23 banners were purchased, due to the increased interest in the program. Applications are received all year and banners are displayed from November through end of October. The banners are also displayed on the City's Hometown Hero webpage <https://www.ci.patterson.ca.us/880/Hometown-Heroes>
At the end of the display period, banners are returned back to the family and/or applicant who purchased the banner at a public meeting to honor those who were displayed through this program. All participants have been invited to attend this meeting to receive their banners in honor of their Hometown Hero.
